Local Government Impact

The bill would authorize a city or town with a population of less than
35,000 that is located in two counties, and one of the counties has an
international airport and a professional vehicular raceway and the other
county has a population of less than 800,000, to hold a local option
election regarding the sale of wine for off-premise consumption only.

An eligible city or town would incur the costs of the local option
election. Based on a sampling of calendar year 2000 election per voter
costs reported by the Secretary of State, the cost of the election would
be $0.91 per registered voter.
