LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session February 16, 2001 TO: Honorable Ron Wilson, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB1222 by Truitt (Relating to certain local option elections under the Alcoholic Beverage Code.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact The bill would authorize a city or town with a population of less than 35,000 that is located in two counties, and one of the counties has an international airport and a professional vehicular raceway and the other county has a population of less than 800,000, to hold a local option election regarding the sale of wine for off-premise consumption only. An eligible city or town would incur the costs of the local option election. Based on a sampling of calendar year 2000 election per voter costs reported by the Secretary of State, the cost of the election would be $0.91 per registered voter.
