LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session February 12, 2001 TO: Honorable Tom Ramsay, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB1260 by Hardcastle (Relating to work projects on which the labor of inmates confined in county jail may be used.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend Article 43.10, Code of Criminal Procedure, to allow for the use of labor of inmates confined in county jail for works and maintenance projects for nonprofit public service organizations certified as eligible organizations by the commissioners court. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Costs to the county would be for staff to oversee inmates while they conduct the works and maintenance projects.
