The bill would provide for the establishment, modification, and
enforcement of child support. The bill would require the Department of
Banking to regulate private child support enforcement agencies. A $500
nonrefundable filing fee would be required of each applicant for
registration. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) estimates that 10
to 15 agencies would apply for registration each year. (Potential revenue
may generated up to $7,500 annually.) The Department of Banking could
reasonably absorb the workload associated with the regulation of private
child support enforcement agencies within existing resources.
The OAG also would be affected by numerous provisions, including
establishing a pilot project to improve the use of child support liens;
however, the OAG indicates that any impact could be reasonably absorbed
with current resources.
Technology Impact
Technology costs include 3 computers and a printer for new FTEs at the
Department of Banking. Total costs for FY 2002 are $6,500.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
