LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
April 30, 2001
TO: Honorable Paul Sadler, Chair, House Committee on Public
Education
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB1470 by Dunnam (Relating to enrichment curriculum
requirements.), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
**************************************************************************
Local Government Impact
Because current law allows districts to provide instruction in the
enrichment subjects using the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
(TEKS) as guidelines, the implications of the revised standard would
vary widely among districts. In particular, local implications for
professional development might be extensive in some districts and
minimal in others depending upon the extent to which the TEKS are
presently addressed in classroom instruction.
