"Pete" Laney, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB1585 by Gallego (Relating to the restoration of forfeited good conduct time.), As Passed 2nd House ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to restore good conduct time that was forfeited due to the commission of an offense or a rules violation during imprisonment or due to the revocation of parole or mandatory supervision. If the Department utilizes the option to restore good conduct time, the bill would result in cost savings due to the earlier release of inmates for whom good conduct time is restored.
