The bill would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to
restore good conduct time that was forfeited due to the commission of an
offense or a rules violation during imprisonment or due to the
revocation of parole or mandatory supervision. If the Department
utilizes the option to restore good conduct time, the bill would result
in cost savings due to the earlier release of inmates for whom good
conduct time is restored.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
