Fiscal Analysis
The bill would increase the reinstatement fee for a suspended or denied
driver's license from $100 to $125. The bill would dedicate $25 of this
fee for appropriations to the State Office of Administrative Hearings
(SOAH).
Methodology
Using data from fiscal year 2000 license suspensions, the Comptroller's
Office estimates that the bill would generate $1,875,000 each fiscal
year in additional revenue. It is also assumed that the number of
individuals that would pay this fee would remain constant. Although the
bill would dedicate this additional revenue for appropriations to SOAH,
the bill itself does not appropriate the money, thus the fiscal note
shows this revenue as being a net gain to General Revenue.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
