Local Government Impact
The bill would add to the rules and ordinances for which a municipality
may charge a fine of no more than $2,000, rules and ordinances governing
municipal beautification. The bill would take effect September 1, 2001
and would apply only to violations committed on or after that date.
Municipalities would experience a revenue gain of up to $2,000 per
offense under the statute. The total amount of revenue gain would vary
depending on the number of violations committed, persons caught, and
what level of fine would be levied within the $2,000 limit. The fine
collected could help offset costs for reparations of damages caused by
the violation.
