Local Government Impact

The bill would authorize political subdivisions to regulate tow trucks to
the extent allowed by federal law and to limit the fee charged for a
license or permit to $15. Under current law, the regulatory authority
and $15 fee limit under Section 643.201, Transportation Code, apply only
to municipalities. The proposed amendment to the Transportation Code
would extend regulatory authority to other political subdivisions as
well.

No fiscal impact to units of local government is anticipated.
