LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 6, 2001 TO: Honorable Tom Ramsay, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB1735 by Allen (Relating to authorizing certain nature centers in certain counties to charge admission fees.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact The bill would authorize a not-for-profit entity that maintains county and municipal park property abutting property that is owned by the entity and operated as a nature center to charge an admission fee for entrance onto or use of the county and municipal property and would set the fees at no more than $3 a day for adults and $1 a day for children. The bill would only affect the cities of Dallas and Houston and the respective counties of Dallas and Harris. The City of Dallas stated that under the provisions of the bill, they would experience a revenue gain of between $10,000 and $50,000 a year. The City of Houston said that if they were to charge an admission fee to their nature center, they would experience a revenue gain of $465,000 annually. Source Agencies: LBB Staff: JK, DB
