LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 16, 2001 TO: Honorable Steven Wolens, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB1916 by Capelo (Relating to the confidentiality of information held by governmental bodies that identifies certain personal information about peace officers.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would allow a peace officer to restrict access to information concerning the peace officer's home address, home telephone number, social security number, and family. The information could not be disclosed to the public if the peace officer chooses to restrict public access to the information and notifies the governmental body of the officer's choice on a form provided by the governmental body. The bill would also provide that home address information in appraisal records would be confidential and available only for the official use of certain entities if the peace officer chooses to restrict public access by completing the prescribed form.
