LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 16, 2001 TO: Honorable Paul Sadler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2062 by Tillery (Relating to a self-paced program for certain students at risk of dropping out of school.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill allows school districts to implement or contract with certain providers to operate self-paced programs for students identified as at risk of dropping out of school. Although the bill directs that students participating in such programs be included in the computation of the district's average daily attendance for funding purposes, the Texas Education Agency indicates that there would be minimal fiscal impact to the State. Local Government Impact If school districts are able to operate such programs for less cost per pupil than traditional programs, they could realize savings without a reduction in revenue.
