       IN RE:  HB2102  by Eiland (Relating to the determination of

               premium rates for certain lines of insurance.), As

The change from contested case hearings to rulemaking proceedings to set

certain rates under Articles 5.101 and 21.81 of the Insurance Code would

reduce the Office of Public Insurance Counsel staff time necessary to

prepare for and participate in these hearings.  In addition, the time

necessary for the agency's expert witnesses to participate in the

hearings would be reduced.  These reduced expenses are estimated to be

$28,514 annually.

 

Local Government Impact

 

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
