Local Government Impact

The bill would provide an option to community centers to participate in
the state's uniform group insurance program (UGIP). The centers would be
responsible for paying 100 percent of the premium for an employee's
basic coverage. Community centers that are paying higher costs for
insurance than they would under the state's UGIP would likely choose to
participate in the state program and would experience a savings. The
amount of the savings would vary by center, depending on the difference
between their existing costs and the costs for UGIP.
