The bill prescribes no new duties for the state demographer that are not
currently being performed by Dr. Steve Murdock in his capacity as
director of the State Data Center (under the administration of the Texas
Agricultural Experiment Station), or through an interagency contract with
the Texas Legislative Council. The council already provides office
space and other support to Dr. Murdock to facilitate the performance of
services for the legislature. Unless the nature of the support required
changes, there should be no additional fiscal impact on the council
because of this bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
