                    FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session

TO: Honorable James E. "Pete" Laney, Speaker of the House,
               House of Representatives

FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE: HB2262 by Danburg (Relating to the requirements for

The bill would eliminate the requirement that any of the board members of
the Texas Optometry Board be affiliated with the Texas Optometric
Association, Inc., or the Texas Association of Optometrists, Inc.

Further, the bill would eliminate any requirements that a member of the
governing board of a state agency that issues a license or regulates a
business, occupation, or profession be a member of a private trade
association. The bill would not apply to the Texas Energy Resource
Council if it is created during the regular session of the 77th
Legislature.

Members serving on a government board on the effective date of the Act
may continue to serve for the remainder of the member's term. The Act
would go into effect immediately if it were to receive the requisite
two-thirds vote in both houses; otherwise, it would go into effect
September 1, 2001.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
