"Pete" Laney, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2262 by Danburg (Relating to the requirements for membership on the Texas Optometry Board.), As Passed 2nd House ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would eliminate the requirement that any of the board members of the Texas Optometry Board be affiliated with the Texas Optometric Association, Inc., or the Texas Association of Optometrists, Inc. Further, the bill would eliminate any requirements that a member of the governing board of a state agency that issues a license or regulates a business, occupation, or profession be a member of a private trade association. The bill would not apply to the Texas Energy Resource Council if it is created during the regular session of the 77th Legislature. Members serving on a government board on the effective date of the Act may continue to serve for the remainder of the member's term. The Act would go into effect immediately if it were to receive the requisite two-thirds vote in both houses; otherwise, it would go into effect September 1, 2001.
