Local Government Impact

School districts would be permitted but not required to purchase
liability insurance to cover the injuries and deaths of students as
described above. School districts purchasing such insurance would
become liable for damage claims for such deaths and injuries only to the
extent of purchased coverage. It is assumed that districts would
carefully consider the ramifications of the limited liability imposed by
this bill in deciding whether to purchase applicable liability
insurance.
