LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session May 1, 2001 TO: Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2440 by Krusee (Relating to a referendum for a rail plan in certain metropolitan rapid transit authorities.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact The bill would require that a subsequent vote on a referendum for a rail plan in certain metropolitan rapid transit authorities must be held at the general election in November of an even-numbered year. Under current law, such subsequent elections may not be held less than a year after the previously held election. By combining the referendum with the general election, the transit authority would save the cost of holding a special election. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source Agencies: 304 Comptroller of Public Accounts LBB Staff: JK, RB, DB
