LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session May 6, 2001 TO: Honorable Mike Moncrief, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2602 by Coleman (Relating to indigent health care.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Under existing statute, the maximum income for patients participating in the county indigent health care program (CIHCP) will be raised from 21% to 25% of the Federal Poverty Income Level (FPIL) on January 1, 2002. The bill would eliminate this change. The implementation of the provisions of the bill would not likely result in a reduction in state expenditures because state expenditures for the CIHCP are currently below the levels authorized in statute. The bill would also authorize the Texas Department of Health to allocate an unspecified portion of the Tertiary Care Facility Program (TCFP) funding toward the CIHCP. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source Agencies: 304 Comptroller of Public Accounts LBB Staff: JK, HD, SW
