LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
March 27, 2001
TO: Honorable Patricia Gray, Chair, House Committee on Public
Health
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB2602 by Coleman (Relating to indigent health care.),
As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
**************************************************************************
Under existing statute, the maximum income for patients in the county
indigent health care program will be raised from 21% to 25% of the
Federal Poverty Income Level (FPIL) on January 1, 2002. The bill would
eliminate this change.
The implementation of the provisions of the bill would not be likely to
result in a reduction in State expenditures because State expenditures
for this program are currently below the levels authorized in statute.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
