Local Government Impact

The bill would allow registered voters of a hospital district to file a
petition with the secretary of the district board requesting an election
to authorize an increase in the maximum tax rate of the district. If an
election were to be ordered, the district would incur the cost of holding
an election. Based on the cost per registered voter from a sample of
cities and counties, the average cost per registered voter is $0.91.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
