LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 10, 2001 TO: Honorable Juan Hinojosa, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2701 by Homer (Relating to the enhancement of penalties for certain intoxication offenses.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the offense of driving while intoxicated to a Class A misdemeanor if the person operating the vehicle has an alcohol concentration of .15 or more. The bill would also enhance the punishment for the offense of intoxication manslaughter to a felony of the first degree if the person has previously been convicted two or more times of an offense relating to the operating of a motor vehicle while intoxicated, an offense of operating an aircraft while intoxicated, or an offense of operating a watercraft while intoxicated.
