LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 15, 2001 TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair, House Committee on Judicial Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2716 by Maxey (Relating to an application for the appointment of a guardian for certain incapacitated minors.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would provide that in an application for the appointment of a guardian of a minor who, because of incapacity, will require a guardianship after the ward is no longer a minor may not be filed more than 180 days before the proposed ward's 18th birthday. Further, if the application is heard before the proposed ward's 18th birthday, a guardianship may not take effect until the proposed ward's 18th birthday.
