LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
May 11, 2001
TO: Honorable J.E. "Buster" Brown, Chair, Senate Committee on
Natural Resources
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB2806 by Kitchen (Relating to disconnection of natural
gas service.), As Engrossed

* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
If a municipal gas corporation operates a gas utility and cannot
disconnect service under certain circumstances even though a customer
has not paid the bill, there could be a revenue loss if the individual
does not eventually make payment. The total loss would vary by
municipality and would be less significant under House Bill 2806, as
substituted than House Bill 2806, because the temperature at which the
gas company must provide services, regardless of payment, is lower in
House Bill 2806, as substituted.
