The bill requires a county to acquire voter approval of the location of a
low-level radioactive waste disposal site in the event that the Texas
Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) chooses a potential
site for a waste disposal facility in the county. If a county is
required to hold an election authorizing the TNRCC to choose a potential
site for the disposal of low-level radioactive waste, the cost of
conducting such an election is estimated not to exceed $5,000.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
