"Pete" Laney, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB3152 by Capelo (Relating to due process for physicians, dentists, and podiatrists in hospitals.), As Passed 2nd House ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact The bill would authorize a physician, podiatrist, or dentist to require a hospital to participate in mediation within a reasonable period of time if the hospital's credentials committee has failed to take action on a completed application for staff membership or privileges or if the physician, podiatrist, or dentist is subject to a professional review action that may adversely affect that person's medical staff membership or privileges. The provisions of the bill would not authorize a physician, podiatrist, or dentist to bring a cause of action against the hospital other than an action to require the hospital to participate in mediation.
