Local Government Impact

The bill would authorize a physician, podiatrist, or dentist to require a
hospital to participate in mediation within a reasonable period of time
if the hospital's credentials committee has failed to take action on a
completed application for staff membership or privileges or if the
physician, podiatrist, or dentist is subject to a professional review
action that may adversely affect that person's medical staff membership
or privileges. The provisions of the bill would not authorize a
physician, podiatrist, or dentist to bring a cause of action against the
hospital other than an action to require the hospital to participate in
mediation.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
