LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 29, 2001 TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair, House Committee on Judicial Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB3248 by Hinojosa (Relating to the creation of the County Criminal Court at Law of Hidalgo County.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would create a County Criminal Court at Law in Hidalgo County. The new court would have jurisdiction over all criminal cases. The County Criminal Court at Law of Hidalgo County would be created and the bill would take effect September 1, 2002. Local Government Impact A representative of the County Judge's Office provided the costs associated with creating the court. Hidalgo County would incur a maximum expense for salaries and operations of $335,000 annually. One-time construction costs of $230,000 are also anticipated.
