Fiscal Analysis

The bill would delete current fee caps for opticians, and authorize the
Board of Health to set new fees in reasonable amounts to cover
administration costs. The Board of Health would be required to set fees
by January 1, 2002.

Methodology

TDH estimates 750 registered opticians currently pay $30 for annual
renewal fees for a single registration or $50 for a dual registration.
A $20 increase in the annual renewal fee would provide an additional
$15,000 per year in revenue, and cover program costs.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
