The bill would allow the Office of Court Administration to award grants
to counties and municipalities each even numbered year beginning January
2002, for the purpose of preparing a plan to improve collection of court
costs, fees, and fines imposed in criminal cases.   The bill would allow
the Office of Court Administration to require that counties and
municipalities to reimburse the state for the costs of the additional
collections as a condition of the grant.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2001.
