The bill amends Section 44.004 of the Education Code, changing the date
when the chief appraiser must certify an estimate of a school district's
taxable value. The date would move up to June 7 from June 15.

A school district with a fiscal year beginning July 1 would be authorized
to use the June 7 estimate in setting its budget and proposed property
tax rate, if the chief appraiser were unable to provide a certified
appraisal roll by July 7.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.

The bill would affect only the timing of required notices and hearings by
school districts.
