* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
**************************************************************************
The bill requires the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
to prescribe procedures on the dissemination of information about
bacterial meningitis to new students (including transfer students) at
State higher education institutions. The THECB would work with the
Texas Department of Health (TDH) to develop the information content and
to establish an advisory committee to assist in determining methods for
dissemination. The THECB and TDH would also be responsible for
encouraging private and independent institutions to provide the
information to their new students. Information on bacterial meningitis
could be distributed through current dissemination methods at little or
no cost.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
