LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 10, 2001 TO: Honorable Steven Wolens, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB247 by Shapleigh (Relating to the confidentiality of information held by governmental bodies that identifies certain personal information about peace officers and employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The provisions of the bill would amend the Government Code to require that governmental bodies protect certain personal information about peace officers if the officer submits a written request not to disclose that information. The Tax Code would also be amended to protect personal information found in appraisal district records about an officer if the officer submits a written request. Written requests would have to be on forms provided by the governmental bodies, or for appraisal districts, forms provided by the Comptroller of Public Accounts. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
