The provisions of the bill would amend the Government Code to require
that governmental bodies protect certain personal information about
peace officers if the officer submits a written request not to disclose
that information. The Tax Code would also be amended to protect personal
information found in appraisal district records about an officer if the
officer submits a written request. Written requests would have to be on
forms provided by the governmental bodies, or for appraisal districts,
forms provided by the Comptroller of Public Accounts.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
