LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session February 9, 2001 TO: Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB274 by Van de Putte (Relating to the contracting authority of, authorized uses for tax proceeds by, and eligibility for participation in tax increment financing of certain hospital districts.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would prohibit hospital districts in counties with a population of 190,000 or more from future participation in tax increment financing. The bill would also prohibit amending existing plans in regard to certain terms of the hospital district participation. There should be minimal impact to local governments since any existing plans where hospital districts participate would not be affected. Any possible impact would be prospective in regards to new proposals or amending existing plans to increase or extend hospital district participation.
