The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission to ensure
that managed care organizations under contract with the commission
develop and implement special disease management programs to address
chronic health conditions. The commission would also be required to
conduct a cost benefit study of applying disease management principles
in the delivery of Medicaid managed services to recipients with chronic
health conditions. The commission may conduct the study with an
academic center. It is assumed that the study could be accomplished
within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
