LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 17, 2001 TO: Honorable Mike Moncrief, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB283 by Nelson (Relating to special disease management programs for certain recipients of medical assistance under the Medicaid managed care program.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission to ensure that managed care organizations under contract with the commission develop and implement special disease management programs to address chronic health conditions. The commission would also be required to conduct a cost benefit study of applying disease management principles in the delivery of Medicaid managed services to recipients with chronic health conditions. The commission may conduct the study with an academic center. It is assumed that the study could be accomplished within existing resources.
