LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
April 26, 2001
TO: Honorable Teel Bivins, Chair, Senate Committee on
Education
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: SB350 by Truan (Relating to wage rates paid by or on
behalf of certain school districts on public works
projects.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
The bill authorizes, but would not require, school districts located
primarily in a county within 50 miles of an international border to
require that contractors and subcontractors building public works for
said districts pay their employees a "living wage." Only those
districts choosing to do so might experience greater construction costs
as a result.
