The bill allows the board of regents of the Texas Tech University System
to raise the medical services fee from the current $55 for each semester
of the regular term or 12-week summer session to $100 and the current
$25 for each six week or shorter term of the summer session to $50.
Texas Tech University System estimates that the fee increase will
generate additional revenues of $319,250 in fiscal year 2003. The bill
would also allow the board to raise the student recreation fee from the
current $25 per semester to $100 and from $12.50 per six-week summer
term to $50. Texas Tech University System estimates that this fee
increase will generate additional revenues of $147,500 in fiscal year
2003. These fees are auxiliary in nature and will not impact State
appropriations.
