LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 5, 2001 TO: Honorable Teel Bivins, Chair, Senate Committee on Education FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB462 by Duncan (Relating to certain fees for students attending institutions in the Texas Tech University System.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill allows the board of regents of the Texas Tech University System to raise the medical services fee from the current $55 for each semester of the regular term or 12-week summer session to $100 and the current $25 for each six week or shorter term of the summer session to $50. Texas Tech University System estimates that the fee increase will generate additional revenues of $319,250 in fiscal year 2003. The bill would also allow the board to raise the student recreation fee from the current $25 per semester to $100 and from $12.50 per six-week summer term to $50. Texas Tech University System estimates that this fee increase will generate additional revenues of $147,500 in fiscal year 2003. These fees are auxiliary in nature and will not impact State appropriations. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
