LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 13, 2001 TO: Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB509 by Moncrief (Relating to an asbestos survey before issuance of a building permit to renovate or demolish certain buildings.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would require that a person obtaining a building permit must provide evidence that an asbestos survey of all parts of the building affected by the planned renovation or demolition has been completed by a person licensed to conduct the survey and certification from a licensed engineer or architect confirming the safety of the materials and that all affected parts of the building are asbestos-free.
