Fiscal Analysis
  
The bill would amend the Professional Land Surveying Practices Act
(Article 5282c, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) by deleting the phrase
"not earlier than six months from the date of the failed examination."
This would allow examinees to retake the examination within the same
year.
  
  
Methodology
  
The agency estimates that an average of 234 persons take the examination
each year.  Approximately 40 percent of examinees fail and then retake
the exam. Currently, those failing the exam must wait a year to retake
it.  The bill would allow those retakes to occur within the same fiscal
year.  With an examination fee set by a rider in the General
Appropriations Act of $125, and 40 percent or 94 examinees retaking each
year, there would be an increase of approximately $11,750 in general
revenue generated annually by the agency.
  
  
Local Government Impact
  
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
