This bill requires general academic teaching institutions and medical and
dental units to use a variety of criteria in selecting students for
admission and/or competitive scholarships for graduate programs of study.
It would prohibit the use of performance on a standardized test as the
sole criterion for consideration of an applicant.

No changes are to made in the number of persons selected for the programs
of study, or in the number of scholarships. Only the selection criteria
are to be changed. Therefore, no significant fiscal impact to general
revenue is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
