Depending on the population size of the county in which the district exists, the increase could be from 25 to 45 additional appraisal review board members within the district. The bill would take effect January 1, 2002. District board members are paid per diem and for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of board functions. The appraisal district would therefore incur additional per diem and administrative costs for each board member position added.
