LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session March 19, 2001 TO: Honorable David Cain, Chair, Senate Committee on Administration FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB656 by West, Royce (Relating to the designation and functions of a state demographer.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill prescribes no new duties for the state demographer that are not currently being performed by Dr. Steve Murdock in his capacity as director of the State Data Center (under the administration of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station), or through an interagency contract with the Texas Legislative Council. The council already provides office space and other support to Dr. Murdock to facilitate the performance of services for the legislature. Unless the nature of the support required changes, there should be no additional fiscal impact on the council because of this bill.
