The bill would reduce the interest rate on delinquent child support and
child support arrearages which have been confirmed and reduced to money
judgments, from 12 % to 6% per year. The provisions of the bill would
apply to child support payments that become due or a money judgment for
child support rendered on or after the effective date. The bill would be
effective on January 1, 2002.

The Office of the Attorney General has indicated that the reduced
interest rate would have no fiscal impact on the agency.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
