The bill would reduce the interest rate on delinquent child support and
child support arrearages which have been confirmed and reduced to money
judgments, from 12 % to 6% per year. The bill would be effective January
1, 2002, and would apply only to a child support payment that becomes due
on or after that date.

The Office of the Attorney General has indicated that the reduced
interest rate would have no fiscal impact on the agency.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
