LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 8, 2001 TO: Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB886 by Ogden (Relating to motor vehicle size and weight limitations.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend the Transportation Code by expanding the type and range of vehicles that are exempt from load limitations and removing the required weight limit per inch of tire width. The bill would extend the purposes for which exempted trucks could legally operate in excess of load restrictions. The bill would also establish axle and gross weight restrictions. Although the Texas Department of Transportation reported that significant damage may occur to state roads with the implementation of the bill, no significant costs were identified. The bill would take effect September 1, 2001. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
