LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
April 1, 2001
TO: Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on
Intergovernmental Relations
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: SB961 by Moncrief (Relating to salary supplements by a
county or a municipality for child protective services
workers.), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
The bill would authorize a county or municipality to supplement from
their own funds the salary of Department of Protective and Regulatory
Services (DPRS) employees whose duties include providing services as
part of, or relating to, the provision of child protective services by
the DPRS. A county or municipality that might choose to provide
supplemental pay to DPRS employees would incur an increase in
expenditures, but it is not anticipated a unit of local government would
incur this additional expense unless there are sufficient funds
available.
