LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 2, 2001 TO: Honorable Mike Moncrief, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB1084 by Harris (Relating to requiring hepatitis A vaccines for food service employees.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** It is assumed the Department of Health would absorb any costs it may incur in implementing the provisions of the bill. Local Government Impact The bill would require employees of food establishments to be immunized against Hepatitis A, unless they qualify for exemptions listed in the bill. If an employee is not immunized and does not qualify for an exemption, the local government authority that issues food handler permits would be required to revoke or deny renewal of a food handler permit to that individual. Local government authorities would incur administrative costs associated with reviewing immunization records and revoking or denying renewal of permits as warranted. It is anticipated the additional administrative costs would be absorbed into the local entities' budget. Source Agencies: 501 Texas Department of Health LBB Staff: JK, HD, RM
