"Pete" Laney, Speaker of the House FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB1119 by Armbrister (relating to the regulation of bail bond sureties; providing a penalty.), Conference Committee Report ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact The bill would add new requirements for individuals and corporations operating in the bail bond business as well as add areas of authority for regulation by the county bail bond board. Impact to local government would result from requirements by bail bondsmen and bail businesses to file applications and deposits with the county treasurer instead of with the county sheriff, as is the requirement under current statute; the requirement for a county sheriff to issue the required notarized certificate verifying that a person meets the requirements for a bond executed by the bail bond surety outside of the county; and additional regulatory duties.
