Local Government Impact

The bill would add new requirements for individuals and corporations
operating in the bail bond business. Impact to local government would
result in requirements by bail bondsmen and bail businesses to file
applications and deposits with the county treasurer instead of the county
sheriff, as is the current statute. Additionally, the bill would repeal
the section of the Occupations Code relating to the effect of default by
corporations conducting bail bond business. The repeal would relieve the
court clerk of a minimal amount of administrative duties.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
